Full moon rising - get set for the supermoon

Tonight you'll be able to see the closest, largest and brightest full moon in almost 70 years.

The full moon hasn't been this close since 1948 and it won't be closer again until 2034.

The proximity of Earth's nearest celestial neighbour has caused more than a few people to ask if that could be the reason for Monday's 7.5 earthquake.

New Zealand scientists say while earthquakes do have a slight association with lunar cycles, it's not reliable enough for forecasting.
