Kaikōura rental shortage a 'nightmare'

A rental shortage in quake-damaged Kaikōura is forcing some locals to consider shutting up shop and leaving. It's been almost a year since a 7.8 magnitude earthquake devastated the seaside town as well as State Highway 1, and many of the surviving homes have been rented to construction workers. Locals say while these workers are needed, there is almost no rental accommodation available for residents.
