Ngati Kuri making tourism gateway to Cape Reinga

A Far North tourist attraction that features a staircase inside the trunk of a Kauri tree has been re-branded by local iwi looking to bring in many more visitors. Kick-starting stagnant employment in the Far North is another focus for the tribe. Possible ventures in Cape Reinga could include helicopter tours, glamping and cultural experiences. The plan is to make the centre a the major tourist gateway to Cape Reinga.
