Polytechnics fragile, under strain, lacking funding

Polytechnic bosses have told the government their sector is under strain from a lack of funding, competition from the private sector, and falling enrolments. The Tertiary Education Commission has alerted the government to issues related to the institutions' viability. It says their profit margins have fallen and they are facing significant changes in order to remain viable.
