NZer killed in Kabul suicide bomb a 'wonderful friend'

From Morning Report, 6:40 am on 29 January 2018

A New Zealand man killed in the Kabul car bombing has been remembered as a hard-working and caring man. On Saturday a suicide bomber driving an ambulance killed at least 100 people and wounded 235 more. Hashem Slaimankhel had been visiting the city with his family, and had been due to fly home tonight when he went into the town centre to withdraw cash, and was killed. He had arrived in New Zealand in 1990 as a refugee himself, and worked with resettling refugees in New Zealand. His long-time friend and colleague at the Refugee Council, Arif Said spoke with our reporter Sophia Duckor-Jones and says he always put others before himself.
