UK PM slams Russia, expels diplomats after Skripal poisoning

Britain's Prime Minister Theresa May has laid out her response to the poisoning of a former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia.

Overnight Ms May explicitly blamed Moscow and said 23 Russian diplomats, who have been identified as undeclared intelligence officers, would be expelled. New sanctions will be also be considered against what she called "corrupt Russian elites".

An uncompromising Ms May said the attack on was an unlawful use of force against the UK. The Russian Embassy in London called the expulsion a "hostile action". Ms May went on to say "it's tragic that the Russian President Vladimir Putin has chosen to act in this way".

She also detailed some of the immediate punishments and restrictions Britain has imposed on Russia. We discuss the events with the BBC's political correspondent Rob Watson.
