Govt funding 'dead' after Waimea dam voted down - Shane Jones

Regional Economic Development Minister Shane Jones has poured scorn on Tasman district councillors who voted yesterday to stop the Waimea Dam from being built. Councillors objected to the escalating cost of the dam, which had already been given some state assistance and was under consideration for more through the Provincial Growth Fund. Mr Jones told our reporter Eric Frykberg the decision was bad news for Tasman ratepayers and industries.
