An expert in counterterrorism says if there is any risk involved in bringing Islamic State-linked woman Suhayra Aden to New Zealand it is more for her than it is for the rest of the country.
The National Party says it's outrageous the details behind the arrival of a New Zealand woman linked to Islamic State are not being disclosed.
Former counter-terrorism expert for the US Government Paul Buchanan told Morning Report keeping the details of Aden's arrival quiet is necessary.
"When she comes back, there's two sides to the security equation.
"One is, does she present a threat to us? Obviously the police are making their inquiries now to find out if she indeed is sus.
"The other one... is the threat to her from islamophobes in this country."
