Milk tanker attacked

From Morning Report, 8:13 am on 21 March 2022

Waikato police are investigating an attack on a milk tanker at the weekend, in which the cab's windscreen was smashed with a hammer, and milk was poured across the road.

The police say it happened near the intersection of Stokes and Orini roads just north of Hamilton, at about 1.20am on Saturday morning.

A group of cars was blocking the road, causing the driver to stop.

The police say people then attacked the tanker, and spilled a significant volume of milk on the road. In a statement,

Fonterra says it is supporting the driver, who was not injured.

The police say what happened is still unclear and they are appealing for information.

Waikato mayor Allan Sanson spoke to Corin Dann.
