Campbell Island's 'world's loneliest tree' contributing to science

The nine-metre-tall pine is the only tree on Campbell Island, 750 kilometres south of the New Zealand mainland.

The next-closest tree  is 250 kilometres away.

Scientists are using it to help them understand the impacts of climate change.

Corin Dann spoke with GNS radiocarbon science leader Jocelyn Turnbull, who's spent time with the tree on Campbell Island.
