Rescue efforts continue following deadly Japan earthquake

The death toll from a 7.6 magnitude earthquake that struck Japan's Noto Peninsula on Monday has risen to 55, as efforts continue to try and reach people feared trapped under the rubble of collapsed buildings.

The quake, which struck the mid-west of Japan's main island was widely felt, and toppled buildings nearest the epicentre and triggered tsunami warnings.
