Donald Trump's lawyers present immunity defence in Washington DC

A landmark legal case about whether former US President Donald Trump should be immune from criminal prosecution has been heard in Washington DC overnight.

Trump is set to face trial in March on federal charges of election subversion, following his wide-ranging attempts to overturn the 2020 election result.

But today, his legal team argued to the court that former Presidents should not be prosecuted for actions they took in office.
