One striking fact from these nationwide elections has been the strength of the rural and provincial vote. Federated Farmers have pushed for the voice of farmers to be heard in local government, encouraging members around the country to hold local candidates to account, and even stand themselves. We speak to Federated Farmers president Katie Milne who says a few farmers have got in.
