The National Party's second-term agenda includes controversial plans to sell minority stakes in the state-owned power companies, and Solid Energy, as well as a selldown in Air New Zealand shares. The Maori Party went into the campaign opposing asset sales but iwi groups like Tainui and Ngai Tahu, are in favour.

Greg Gilpin has just retired after 46 years in the police force. Through his work, he has witnessed many key New Zealand events. He was one of the officers who led the body recovery operation on Mount Erebus in 1979 and was involved in the aftermath of the sinking of both the Wahine and the Russian cruise liner Mikhail Lermontov as well as policing the Springbok tour protests.
Today marks the 32nd anniversary of the Erebus tragedy.
