Syd Barrett was a founding member of Pink Floyd; the lead singer, guitarist and principal songwriter in the band's early years. He died in 2006. To mark what would have been Barrett's 70th birthday, his nephew Ian Barrett has launched a website featuring biographical information on Barrett his art and music.

Barrett was responsible for the majority of Pink Floyd's breakthrough album, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, and wrote the band's earliest hits 'Arnold Lane' and 'See Emily Play' which in 1967 typified the psychedelic whimsy of the times.
Barrett left Pink Floyd in 1969 amidst stories of heavy LSD use, mental illness and extremely erratic behaviour.
He went on to produce two solo albums The Madcap Laughs and Barrett, both released in 1970.
He left the music business for good in 1972 and lived with his mother as a virtual recluse for the rest of his life in Cambridge. Barrett, who had diabetes, died in 2006.
In 2016, to mark what would have been his 70th birthday, the Barrett family launched the website sydbarrett.com, featuring biographical information on Barrett, his art and music.
