The Green Party says a bill to introduce a warrant of fitness for rental properties would benefit thousands of Maori as renting is now the reality for more than half the Maori population. The Trans Pacific Partnership, indigenous trade relationships, and the future of the Maori fishing industry are among topics up for debate at the Te Putea Whakatupu Trust's annual conference next week. The head of the Whanau Ora funding agency for the North Island says more money is needed to support a cross sector approach to improve Maori health. The organisation that represents Maori tourism operators says visitors to Aotearoa are wanting more than just a "haka, hongi and hangi" experience and are now looking something more meaningful and authentic.
