THE SMALL PRINT

First up, it sounds unbelievable in the era of in-car cellphone bans and driver distraction, but tech companies and auto-makers in the US are about to offer drivers internet access via their dashboards. What's going on?

At about 12:30 pm we're off to Japan where the city authorities in Tokyo are taking some radical steps to eradicate the city's crow population.

Then before the news at 12:35 pm food historian Colleen Taylor Sen's just written the history of curry. Since the word 'curry' first started appearing in India in the late 1700s it's gone well and truly global, but the US market's always proved a bit of a tough nut to crack.

After the news at about 1:15 pm we're off to one of the world's biggest retirement villages in Florida. What's amazing about The Villages isn't just the fact that 77,000 people live there. It's also all been planned and laid out around one dominant form of transport- the golf cart!

At about 1:25 pm Simon's out foraging for more free food with Johanna Knox and this week, kawakawa. It comes from the pepper family, you can brush your teeth with it...it can even stop smelly feet!

Then at about 1:40 pm we're off to Ethiopia where about one-fifth of the country's agricultural land - or about 3 million hectares - is getting leased off for next-to-nothing to overseas investors. With Ethiopia already having to import lots of its food, and with several million people relying on food aid, the idea's proving pretty controversial.

And before we go with just about everyone these days having a mobile phone and with more of them packing in added features like FM radios and in-built cameras, we're speaking to a chap who's just launched the first mobile phone photography course in the UK.
