An index which uses traffic volumes to measure economic growth is pointing to a particularly strong September quarter for the country.
ANZ bank's Heavy Traffic Index fell a seasonally adjusted 0.9% last month, however it completed a strong quarter.
ANZ senior economist Sharon Zollner says this bodes well for the economy's near-term growth prospects.
She says it suggests the third quarter will be strong.
