Another big win for Team New Zealand

7:02 pm on 11 September 2013

Team New Zealand again proved dominant upwind as they beat holders Oracle by one minute and five seconds in the fifth race of the America's Cup on San Francisco Bay.

After the biggest defeat of series so far, Oracle decided they did not want to compete in the day's second race and called a postponement.

Dean Barker's crew trailed after the second mark, but showed superior speed into the wind to grab a lead of more than a minute on the third day of racing.

They then held on for a comfortable victory, which takes their tally of wins to four.

Oracle has so far won just a single race and has also been docked two points for cheating.

Oracle skipper James Spithill admits his team had some problems on board and says that was the reason they called off the second race.

He says the decision had nothing to do with any mechanical problems and the team feels it needs to regroup.

Team New Zealand skipper Dean Barker says Oracle's admission that they have to make changes is a positive for his camp.

He says he thinks Oracle will have to make some tough decisions.

The next two races are scheduled for Friday.
