Arun Kumar died at his shop on Tuesday morning. Police have said it appears he was stabbed. His wife was with him at the time of the attack, but not harmed.

Radio New Zealand is able to publish the outcome, but cannot report legal arguments heard by Judge Lisa Tremewan at the Waitakere Youth Court on Wednesday afternoon.

A 13-year-old boy charged with murder and assault with intent to rob has been remanded to appear at the High Court later in June.

A 12-year-old charged with assault with intent to rob would appear again next week.

The boys would be spending their time at a Child, Youth and Family facility.

The public gallery was packed with supporters for the pair on Wednesday and the court had to be cleared after family members of the murder-accused began shouting. Some wept and hugged before the court appearance.
