Joshua Kite allegedly fired two shots at police in Whangarei last Friday, being stealing two cars, including an unmarked police car, and fleeing. He evaded police for almost a week before they arrested him yesterday afternoon at a Manurewa property.

The charges against the 33-year-old include some historical ones and some from his alleged recent actions in Northland and Auckland.

Kite is due to appear in district courts in Wellington, Auckland, Whangarei and Manukau throughout September.

He has been remanded in custody.
