Rally to be held on liquor reform

6:09 am on 28 July 2010

A rally is being planned in South Auckland to try to convince the government to adopt all of the Law Commission's recommendations for liquor reform.

Parliament is considering the report which recommends raising the legal age for purchasing alcohol to 20 yerars and restricting trading hours for liquor outlets.

The Manukau Alcohol Action Group is behind the rally and has the support of the Salvation Army.

The group says the commission's recommendations must be looked at as a package and not something to be cherry-picked from.

The rally will take place on 15 August.
