Call not to shun workers with mental health issues

A leading New Zealand clothing designer is urging employers not to be put off hiring and keeping staff who have mental health problems.

Ministry of Health figures show that half of all New Zealanders will have a mental health issue at some stage in their lives.

Denise L'Estrange-Corbet, the creator of the World fashion label, says she has been living with depression since childhood.

Ms L'Estrange-Corbet says employers should be encouraging employees to be open about their problems and talking about mental health issues at work can only be good.
