A body has been found on Makikihi beach in South Canterbury but police cannot confirm whether it is that of a missing fisherman.
Peter Hunter, 58, was reported as overdue from a day's fishing off the Timaru coast about 11pm on Wednesday.
Police say the body was found on the beach near the Makikihi river about 11am on Thursday.
They think it has come from Mr Hunter's 12 metre boat Journeyman, which is missing.
