Amnesty International says it fears that two West Papua students detained last week by police have been tortured.
Robert Yelemaken, a 16-year old high school student, and Oni Wea, a 21-year old university student, are activists with the West Papua National Committee, the KNPB, which is campaigning for independence in Papua.
Amnesty says they were arrested on the 8th of August in the Manokwari district for allegedly painting pro-independence graffiti.
Amnesty says the two students are prisoners of conscience and should be released immediately and unconditionally.
It says it has credible information the two students were tortured or otherwise ill-treated during their arrest and while in detention.
Amnesty says they have been beaten and kicked, reportedly force to roll in a dirty water filled drain and drenched in paint.
