The Prime Minister says the National Party is unlikely to sell any more state assets if it wins the next election.

John Key says the last of the state-owned assets to be partially privatised, Genesis Energy, will come onto the market soon and Treasury staff are frantically working on the share float now.

Genesis Energy Huntly Power Station is a thermal power station that can use coal, gas or both simultaneously as fuel.

Talking to to Radio New Zealand National's Nine to Noon programme in the first of a series of leaders' interviews on Wednesday, Mr Key said the party had not made a final decision on whether to campaign on further asset sales.

But he says it is unlikely National would do so.

Mr Key says if the Government had managed to bring Solid Energy to the market at the valuations that were originaly believed to be accurate, it would have made the $5 billion to $6 billion it expected to.
