Auckland bus drivers disputing a pay deal with employer NZ Bus have voted to take further industrial action.
Commuters were left stranded on Monday as about 700 drivers walked off the job to attend a stopwork meeting at Mt Eden.
No buses operated by Metro Link, North Star, Go West, Waka Pacific and Link buses operated between 9.30am and 2.30pm.
Drivers voted for the second time on NZ Bus's latest pay offer, which the company says it will not budge on.
The offer was again rejected, with drivers disputing how long it would take to receive the rise - they say not until the end of 2013 - as well as changes to rosters and duties.
Union officials say an overwhelming majority then voted to work to rule.
The spokesperson for the First Union, Karl Anderson, says that action will begin in a few days.
Mr Anderson expects more strikes if working-to-rule does not have the desired effect on the company.
