A man has been arrested over a vicious assault on an elderly couple.
The couple were beaten unconscious outside their home in Onehunga in Auckland last Saturday.
Police said the man approached the woman as she got out of her car.
Her husband came to her aid but both were assaulted and the attacker took the car.
Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Newman says a 29-year-old man will appear in the Auckland district court tomorrow, charged with injuring with intent, stealing a motor vehicle, intentional damage and burglary.
Mr Newman said the elderly couple have been told of the arrest and he was grateful to everybody who helped with the investigation.
