Billionaire buys half stake in Warriors

Expatriate businessman Owen Glenn has taken a 50% stake in the Warriors rugby league club, just two days before the side's NRL season opener against Manly, at Eden Park.

The deal follows a meeting on Thursday night in Auckland between Glenn, Warriors major shareholder Eric Watson and NRL chief executive David Gallop.

Watson and Glenn have agreed on a 50-50 joint venture in which they will own 100% of the Auckland-based club.

It was reported before last year's NRL grand final that Glenn, 73, estimated to be worth more than $1.1 billion was keen to buy into the Warriors.
