Undermanned Breakers lose to Gold Coast Blaze

The undermanned New Zealand Breakers wound up their Australian Natonal Basketball League regular season last night with a 23-point loss to the Gold Coast Blaze.

With the minor premiership already wrapped up, the Breakers coach Andrej Lemanis rested strike weapons Cedric Jackson, Gary Wilkinson, Daryl Corletto and CJ Bruton ahead of the playoffs.

The home team punished the Breakers with a staggering 12 three-pointers to win 94-71 and qualify for the playoffs.

The Breakers host Townsville on Friday night in the opening round of the best-of-three playoffs, and Gold Coast start their series on Sunday against Perth who have qualified for the playoffs for a staggering 26th straight season.
