Northern Districts has won domestic cricket's four day Plunket Shield competition but owe Canterbury a vote of thanks.
Canterbury, playing against ND's closest rivals Auckland, ensured the trophy for first class cricket supremacy would go Northern's way when they denied Auckland maximum points from their match.
