Ifill relieved to get penalty and keep Phoenix in the hunt

Paul Ifill says it was a nerve wracking moment lining up a penalty shot which could win the game for the Wellington Phoenix Friday night and keep them in the finals hunt.

Ifill delivered, and the Phoenix eliminated Sydney FC from the playoffs with a 3-2 win at Westpac Stadium.

The Phoenix had been up 2-0 but two quick goals from Sydney levelled the game in the 83rd minute before Ifill was then given the chance to covert a penalty to seal the deal.

Ifill says with four minutes to go in an elinimation game, and after missing am attempt at goal earlier in the game, the pressure was on.

Tim Brown and Ben Sigmund earlier scored for the Phoenix.

Whether the Phoenix will have another date at home or travel to Perth will be determined by whether the Perth Glory beat Melbourne Heart Sunday night.
