Marina Erakovic was always going to be up against it in the opening round of the Madrid Masters tennis tournament and she duly lost in straight sets to the defending champion and Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova 6-2 6-3.
The unseeded New Zealand number one, who's risen to 39 in the world rankings after making the final and semi-finals of her last two tournaments in Memphis and Budapest, had her serve broken five times by the third-seeded Czech.
