Waitakere United extended its lead at the top of the ASB football Premiership to four points after beating Canterbury United comfortably 3-1 in Christchurch yesterday.
The West Aucklanders extended their unbeaten run to seven matches and ended Canterbury's own run of five consecutive victories and their unbeaten regular season record of nine matches on home turf.
Playoff rivals Auckland City and Hawke's Bay kept the pressure on the top two with comfortable 4-nil and 3-nil wins over strugglers YoungHeart Manawatu and last year's beaten finalists Team Wellington respectively.
