The Philadelphia Eagles have upset the New York Giants 23-11 to eliminate the defending champions and advance to the National Football Conference championship.

The Eagles now play Western champions the Arizona Cardinals for the right to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.

The win saw the Eagles kicker David Akers set a National Football League record by kicking his 17th-straight playoff field goal midway through the third quarter.

The 10-year veteran has knocked over 25 post season field goals in his career and is third on the all-time list.
