Michael Walker has become the fastest jockey to bring up 1000 winner in New Zealand, after guiding home Te Akau Rose at Te Rapa Racecourse in Hamilton on Thursday.
Walker brought up the 1000 mark just six weeks after riding again after suffering serious head injuries suffered when he fell over a bluff hunting in May last year.
Walker has surpassed Lance O'Sullivan's record by 13 months and two weeks.
O'Sullivan rode his 1,000th winner in New Zealand 10 years and seven months after his first ride.
