Carter surgery venue changes

2:09 pm on 5 February 2009

There has been a change in venue for Dan Carter's surgery on his injured achilles tendon.

Originally scheduled for Paris on Thursday night (New Zealand time), his Perpignan club says it will now happen in Lyon on Friday night.

The 26-year-old Carter, at full fitness probably the best player in the world, is unlikely to be back in action for six months.

The 59-Test veteran and 2005 world player of the year injured his left Achilles tendon while playing for Perpignan against Stade Francais last weekend.

Carter only played five matches for Perpignan - one in the European Cup, four in the French Top 14 competition - and scored 45 points (three conversions and 13 penalties).
