A marathon innings of 137 in nearly 11 hours by Gautam Gambhir ensured the second cricket Test between India and New Zealand in Napier ended in a draw.
When Gambhir's match-saving performance came to an end this afternoon he'd batted through three days' play and rescued his side after India folded in their first innings 314 runs short of New Zealand's 619 for nine declared.
India began today 252 for two in their second innigs and lost just two wickets in reaching 476 for four, a lead of 162, before the captain's agreed to call the match off early with 17 overs left.
V V S Laxman was unbeaten on 124.
