Michael Campbell returns to the European Tour this week to compete in the prestigious French Open in Versailles just outside of Paris.

The event is the oldest national open on continental Europe and Campbell will be among six former Major champions teeing up in the $8.5 million event.

Campbell joins triple Major winning Padraig Harrington of Ireland, double Augusta National champion Jose Maria Olazabal of Spain, a past French Open winner too, and also fellow former U.S. Open winner and current U.S. Masters titleholder Angel Cabrera of Argentina.

Also in the field is double Major champion John Daly who is bringing his 'Loudmouth' line of trousers to the National Club course.

Campbell will be making his 8th appearance in the event and will be looking to draw on memories of his superb showing in the event three years ago when he was placed third behind England's John Bickerton.

Campbell has failed to make the cut in his 10 events this season which has been plauged by injuries.

He will play France and then the Scottish Open before the British Open at Turnberry.
