The Bay of Plenty's alone at the top of rugby unions Air New Zealand championship after beating Wellington 21-17 at Rotorua.
The home side dominated the first half and led 21-6 at the break.
Earlier Taranaki came from eight points behind Hawkes Bay at half-time in New Plymouth to draw 24-all.
And Auckland got its first win, 34-13 over Northland at Kerikeri.
Bay of Plenty are on 12 points, two clear of Canterbury, with Wellington, Southland and Manawatu all on nine.
