The new Silver Ferns captain Casey Williams' tenure has got off to a disastrous start, losing the three-match series to the World Sevens.
The Ferns, coming off a 48-44 loss to the composite world netball sevens on Monday night in Wellington, were again outplayed in Rotorua, losing 53-44.
Williams says a loss is always disappointing but believes her side was better this time.
She says while there's plenty of room for improvement, there were some aspects of the game that she was pleased with, mainly the defence.
The third and final game is in Auckland on Saturday before their five-match series against Australia next month.
