Vettori points the finger at big Jake

A 140 from New Zealand cricket captain Dan Vettori wasn't enough to save the second cricket Test against Sri Lanka at Colombo.

Needing 494 runs for victory New Zealand were bowled out for 397 in their second innings just before tea on the fifth day, Sri Lanka clinching the series 2-nil.

Vettori says while the loss was disappointing he believes things could have been different had Jacob Oram not lost his wicket late in the morning.

But it's just as fair to blame the higher order batsmen, only Daniel Flynn coming close to Oram's total of 56 with his half century.

Meanwhile it's been a good series for Vettori who scored 272 runs and claimed 10 wickets, in the process becoming just the eighth player in the world to achieve the double of 3,000 runs and 300 wickets in Tests
