Women's 5th-seeded Jelena Jankovic, last year's runner-up, was beaten in 3 sets by Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan in the second round of the U.S. tennis Open in New York.
Shvedova, ranked 55th, served an ace to win their third-set tiebreak 8-6 on Arthur Ashe Stadium after fighting off double match point during the closing minutes of the dramatic contest.
Shvedova won four successive points after trailing 4-6, capping the comeback against the Serb with a sizzling ace up the middle to claim the upset.
The big-hitting 21-year-old advanced to the third-round against Gisela Dulko of Argentina.
