Smith to keep an eye on SBW

The All Blacks assistant coach Wayne Smith says he'll try and get a look at Sonny Bill Williams in action in Christchurch club rugby this weekend.

Williams is recovering from a knee injury and as a part of his preparation for playing for Canterbury in the NPC he'll turn out for his Belfast club against Lincoln University on Saturday afternoon.

Smith says he was always going to try and get along to his old club anyway, and getting to see Williams will be a bonus.

Sonny Bill Williams is reported to be on standby for Canterbury's NPC match against Manawatu in Palmerston North tonight.
