One of Australian swimming's greatest coaches John Carew has died at 81 in his Brisbane home after a long illness.
Carew guided Kieren Perkins to two Olympic gold medals and was recetly inducted into Australia's Sporting Hall of Fame.
The partnership of Carew and Perkins also chalked up two Olympic two silver medals , two world championship titles, three Commonwealth Games golds, three Pan Pacific golds and eight world records.
Perkins says he owes Carew everything he achieved.
