All Blacks hooker Andrew Hore has been named as player of the year at the annual New Zealand rugby awards.

Hore, who missed the All Blacks' unbeaten tour of Britain and Ireland after injuring his ankle playing against Australia in Hong Kong, has also picked up the award as New Zealand's best player in this season's Super 14.

The All Blacks have been named as team of the year after winning the Tri-Nations and completing the 'grand slam' against the home unions while Graham Henry won the coach's award.

Southland captain Jamie Mackintosh has won the Air New Zealand Cup player of the year while Wanganui winger Cameron Crowley is the Heartland Championship player of the year.

All Black half back Piri Weepu is the Maori player of the year.

New Zealand captain DJ Forbes is the Sevens player of the year and Auckland winger Victoria Grant the women's player of the year.
