Dan Carter comes through ankle surgery

The injured All Blacks first five Dan Carter has had successful surgery on his troublesome ankle and the All Blacks doctor Deb Robinson says he's on target to make the end of year tour in October.

Carter had keyhole surgery to clean up damaged cartilage and remove bone spurs from his right ankle, which had been causing him pain since the Super 14 and has been restricting his movement during the Tri-nations.

Robinson says the surgeon found Carter's injury was worse than first expected but she expects him to make a full recovery in about eight weeks time.
