There'll be two netball shooters acting as flag bearers at tomorrow's opening ceremony of the Delhi Commonwealth Games, after shooter Irene van Dyk was named to carry the flag for New Zealand.

Sharelle McMahon will carry the Australian team flag.

Van Dyk, who was born in South Africa, moved to New Zealand 10 years ago and has played for the Silver Ferns more than 100 times.

She says she found out she would be carrying the flag into the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium yesterday.

The Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic goal shoot says it's a massive honour to be chosen as the country's flag-bearer.
