Webber says missing F1 championship a small hole in career

The Australian motor racing driver Mark Webber says he won't be shattered if he misses out on winning this year's Formula One title but says it would leave a small hole in his career.

Webber, who goes into the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix trailing Fernando Alonso's Ferrari by eight points, says whatever happens he has enjoyed the best season of his life.

At 34 and against far younger rivals, he has claimed four race victories among 10 podium finishes, five pole positions and helped Red Bull win the constructors' championship in a stellar year.

Webber says he's been boosted by the fact he's finally had a quick car after spending years in uncompetitive teams but says he wished it had come earlier.
