The Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting has apologised for smashing a television set with his bat after being run out during their World Cup match against Zimbabwe on Monday.
A local official has confirmed that the incident happened after Ponting had returned to the dressing room and saw a replay of his dismissal.
Ponting is understood to have apologised to officials, and the matter has been referred to the Australian management and the International Cricket Council.
